Voting with my Dollar
This is about some products that I will not buy and the reason.
Hewlett Packard Desktop computers.
Until HP ships all desktop computers with a proper copy of the Windows operating system on a CD or DVD media, I will not buy them nor recommend them to any of my clients.
In their current state, customers are expected to create their own disks before a disaster occurs. However, even if the customer did manage to create the disks, they would have limited recovery options and find all their data erased. A proper Windows disk would allow non-destructive repair options. Come on, HP. How much does it really cost to include a disk?
A word about HP printers I have for many years recommended HP printers above all the rest without a second thought. After recent experiences (especially on some new LaserJet P2035 printers), I may have to cease recommending them. New driver types do not work well in network and Terminal Server environments, print garbage from some software applications. Universal Print Driver is an ugly beast that caused crashing and other issues on a critical server. Where are my PCL drivers? What's this "Host Based" and GDI garbage?
I suspect many of the decisions for new driver designs are based on greed. Do you mean to tell me that new computers simply are not capable of communicating with old hardware? One would sell more printers by making sure the old ones do not remain compatible.
Norton Internet Security
I no longer recommend Norton or McAfee antivirus products, because they have become so bloated that they will drastically impair system performance. Furthermore, they frequently fail in their purpose of preventing malicious software.
